Decisions

"A real decision is measured by the fact that you've taken a new action. If there's no action,
you haven't truly decided."
-Tony Robbins

My decision that I've FINALLY acted on: reading the news more. I made FOX and BBC my homepages yesterday. Operation be more involved in the world and have something to talk about. (For example, today is a day of mourning in Moscow, Russia)

p.s. I don't know about you, but puppies always make me feel better. That and reading a good book. :) Have a good Tuesday.

Where There's a Will...

You only need TWO things to DO ANYTHING:

1) a WILL
2) a WAY

You can't do anything until you have these two things. A plan and the willingness to carry it out. More often than not, it's the will that is lacking.

Things to do in the snow!

I googled "fun things to do in the snow" and this is what I found:
(something you can do while enjoying your snow day)

Ice cube scavenger hunt
Using food coloring, freeze ice cubes of one color or of several different colors. Hide cubes in the snow in a designated area and let the children try to find them. (LOL)

Footprint tag
Play tag, stepping only in others’ footprints.

Light a fire in the snow
Using dry firewood and perhaps some barbeque starter, start a fire in an open area. If done in deep snow, children will be fascinated to see how the fire gradually sinks deeper and deeper.

Catching snowflakes
Place a black sheet of paper into a freezer until cold. Take outdoors and use a magnifying glass to view snowflakes that land on the paper.

Winter wildlife detectives
After a fresh snowfall, look for animal tracks and try to figure out which animal made the tracks.

Have a snowball fight!

Go Sledding!

Be creative!

Light candles and watch movies and drink hot cocoa!

Happy December!!

Another new month, and the last of the year!
December- ah! The brisk, chilly, holiday month best spent indoors, all snugly.
And now for the inspiration:
Today (and tomorrow, if it works), ask yourself,
How can I make today better?
Better than yesterday, better than it's been, etc.

Keep it fun!

On Productivity and Motivation

Allowing yourself to be motivated and productive is a mindset. It's not as easy to turn on or off as flipping a light-switch, it's like having to go down into your basement at 3am in the pitch-dark, having to manuever through your dirty laundry and collections of junk while cursing your pack-rat tendancies and the fact that you don't have a working flashlight in the house to find the circut-breaker, then experimenting flipping all these different dials and switches in your attempt to find the one that will successfully turn the electricity back on.

BUT the good news is, the more often you go down this same path, the better and quicker you will maneuver through those moments of blindness. It's all about making a habit out of it and finding what works best for you personally.

Good luck! :)

My Advice to You

Given that today is my birthday, I thought it would be appropriate to share my own advice that I have come to find important after 21 years of experience...

Go with the flow, don't get hung up on small disappointments/setbacks;
Love yourself with your words, attitudes, and actions;
Make time for the people who love you;
and make every day meaningful.

If you haven't already: check out my new recommendation blog!

Return to Innocence

By: Enigma
That's not the beginning of the end
That's the return to yourself
The return to innocence

Love, devotion
Feeling, emotion
Love, devotion
Feeling, emotion

Don't be afraid to be weak
Don't be too proud to be strong
Just look into your heart, my friend
That will be the return to yourself
The return to innocence

If you want, then start to laugh
If you must, then start to cry
Be yourself, don't hide
Just believe in destiny
Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence

That's not the beginning of the end
That's the return to yourself
The return to innocence

Don't care what people say
Follow just your own way
Don't give up, don't give up
To return, to return to innocence

If you want, then laugh
If you must, then cry
Be yourself, don't hide
Just believe in destiny

Old Advice

"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
I know this advice has been around the block, but it still holds. Don't be cranky towards everyone else just because you'll never see that jerk who made you spill your coffee ever again.
If it's not their fault, don't take it out on them.
If it was the jerk, however, I guess... just don't embarrass yourself. They could be having a bad day too.

Energize Yourself!

Yoga Jason Crandell - Jason Crandell: Energizing Sequence

Posted using ShareThis

Here is a link to the yoga sequence I did this morning- I found it under the word, "Energizing," which seemed right for waking up on a Tuesday morning. And energizing it was!
May I just add that I love my new little cell phone, which woke me up gently this morning so I had time to do yoga (I can't use alarm clocks because their sound is usually too jarring, I'm so pissed when one wakes me up, that I just go back to bed).

Chew Your Food!

Envision a yoga-type session while reading the following - the room is dark, there is peaceful music playing, and there is an instructor with an extremely soothing voice. But instead of doing yoga, we're eating a meal!

Close your eyes.

Challenge yourself to identify everything you are tasting individually.
shrimp...rice...salt...butter...garlic...
Which ingredient stimulates your nose?

Describe it with adjectives.
fishy...chewy...tart...

Notice the texture.
grainy...wet...slippery...
How does it feel rolling around in your mouth?

Now, try to imagine "what it would taste like if..."

Open your eyes.

Do this for your whole meal.
I guarantee you will finish feeling 100% more satisfied than you would have otherwise.

Happy Masticating! :)
