A Reminder

"Some people like my advice so much that they frame it upon the wall instead of using it."
-GORDON R. DICKSON

Advice, like most other things, is no good if you don't use it.

Have a Happy Halloween!

Reward yourself! For Free!

The harder you work and more you exercise, the more likely it is that you will want to splurge on yourself by treating yourself and buying things that you know you shouldn't, but feel like you earned/deserve.

My challenge to you is to make a list of free things that you can reward yourself with, instead of spending a ton of money shopping/going out to dinner/what-not. (Instead of buying that expensive perfume, just go and spritz yourself with the testers; reward yourself by putting aside the work for once to enjoy a relaxing movie/popcorn/book one night instead of the usual homework/studying, etc.)

Never work yourself too hard for too long before rewarding yourself, because it will just keep adding up towards one big splurge. And I know I don't have the funds to support that kind of behavior, and I doubt you do, either!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Directions for a Healthy Lifestyle

Today (and tomorrow and the next day) do things for how good they'll make you feel after having done them.
(examples: helping others, eating light, dancing, waking up early)

Have a great day-
it's the day before Friday!

The Fun Theory

Got an idea that seems too unrealistic? Well, these people didn't let that stop them!

"There's something to be said about a glass half full. About knowing when to say when. I think it's a floating line. A barometer of need and desire. It's entirely up to the individual and depends on what's being poured. Sometimes all we want is a taste. Other times there's no such thing as enough, the glass is bottomless. And all we want, is more"

I'm Done

Heidi (that's me!) is working on homework today. :)
Today's inspiration is a simple one, but hopefully gets through to you the same:
Stop waiting.

Haha, I did a workout out of my SELF magazine this morning and all the while I wanted to stop short, I kept thinking, "It's all about forming the habit." I have a huge problem with getting into this habit, so today that was all I focused on. And you know what? It helped.

p.s. Sorry LOLA EVERYDAY has been sporadic in updates lately, I've been busy! Give me another week to get things constant. Thanks.

Treat Yourself!

Treat yourself to something delicious this weekend. (hot fudge sundae with extra caramel anybody?) You've earned it!

Bonus points if it's seasonal! -pumpkin cheesecake..mm!

It's Okay

It also okay to be honest.
Don't feel guilty today, or do anything that would make you feel guilty later, okay?
Have a good Friday!

You're awesome!

Life

There's a difference between believing everything happens for a reason,
and finding reason in everything that happens.

sorry for the delay
enjoy your weekend
YOU ROCK! :)

21 October 2009

Looks like it's just the two of us...

Write a letter to yourself.
Sometimes we hate ourselves, or feel guilty, or self-conscious, and no one else can really understand or help us through it.
Write a letter to yourself.
Write out your concerns, the way you would talk it out with someone you know really well.

This idea actually came to me today, when I was sitting, feeling lonely
and I remembered that I shouldn't be depending on other people to cheer me up.
Happiness comes from within.
Looks like I have some quality bonding to do with myself.

If you need help getting started, try this:
Dear [your name here],
I have some important things to tell you...

Let yourself be happy.
You deserve it.

p.s. Happy Birthday to Katie!

Return to Innocence

By: Enigma
That's not the beginning of the end
That's the return to yourself
The return to innocence

Love, devotion
Feeling, emotion
Love, devotion
Feeling, emotion

Don't be afraid to be weak
Don't be too proud to be strong
Just look into your heart, my friend
That will be the return to yourself
The return to innocence

If you want, then start to laugh
If you must, then start to cry
Be yourself, don't hide
Just believe in destiny
Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence

That's not the beginning of the end
That's the return to yourself
The return to innocence

Don't care what people say
Follow just your own way
Don't give up, don't give up
To return, to return to innocence

If you want, then laugh
If you must, then cry
Be yourself, don't hide
Just believe in destiny

Eat Healthy

As Amy said this weekend, "It's all about forming habits."
It's not about the future. Or about this one time (because ONE brownie doesn't really matter, right?). It's about forming the habit.

Thanks Amy, for inadvertently inspiring me.

Have a great Monday.
You're lovely.

Good News: It's Thursday. :0)

Today will be good. Don't you believe that? To keep things from becoming bland, it's good to change your thinking once in a while. I think good quotes can do just that for you.
Here are some inspiration quotes I picked just for you:

"The man who fights too long against dragons becomes a dragon himself."
-Friedrich Nietzsche

"Think like a man of action, act like a man of thought."
-Henri Bergson

"To achieve great things, two things are needed: a plan, and not quite enough time."
-Leonard Bernstein

Have a great day!

Befriend Yourself

It's important to be able to enjoy spending time by yourself because you are the only one that you will spend your whole life with, no matter what. Ask yourself these questions:

Can you entertain yourself when you are alone?
Do you look forward to spending some quality time with yourself?
Could you go to a movie by yourself, and still enjoy it?
Could you go to dinner at a restaurant by yourself?
Do you challenge yourself and do things purely for your own benefit?
Could you survive on a remote island by yourself? (Wilson!)

Just something to think about..

Old Advice

"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
I know this advice has been around the block, but it still holds. Don't be cranky towards everyone else just because you'll never see that jerk who made you spill your coffee ever again.
If it's not their fault, don't take it out on them.
If it was the jerk, however, I guess... just don't embarrass yourself. They could be having a bad day too.

SMILE!

My Newest Inspiration

2. Make the most of your time.

Life

08 October 2009

Just beee yourself!

Don't be ashamed of that stuffed animal you sleep with, or the fact that you can't go into the basement alone. These are the little things that make up who you are. Take all the things that make you who you are and own it! Because being who you are with confidence is the first step to becoming better than you are.

07 October 2009

Perspective :O)

06 October 2009

You can do it!

Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.

Stick in there pal, and keep moving forward!

05 October 2009

Let's Try This Again...

We all have things we don't like, for whatever reason. Some things we tried a while ago, and never wanted to try again. Some things we never planned on trying, because we didn't think we'd like them (this is called pre-judging, friends). My point is, sometimes we judge too soon.

Take one of these things you weren't planning on trying in the future, and try it again or for the first time. You might be surprised.

04 October 2009

Write! Right?

A piece of advice: whether you suddenly get a brilliant idea while sitting in class, or are thinking about all the things you need to do tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day...

WRITE IT DOWN!

Writing things down as you think of them is a great way to stop having to worry, and to be able to come back to some things when you have more time. You think you might remember it in the morning or later on, but you might not! So write things down and clear your mind :)

Play

This Saturday, I suggest you go to a playground. And play! Even for a little while. You know, playgrounds aren't just for children. And neither is candy. Or ice cream cones. Or naps. Or Disney movies. Seriously. Be confident in your maturity as you swing from the swing or slide down that slide. Try out the monkey bars! Learn to have fun (especially if it's somewhere you didn't expect to have it).
Yes, even if it's raining. Clothes can always be washed.

02 October 2009

Be Spontaneous!

Start your weekend off right and do something spontaneous, random, and silly today. :)
I went for a walk in the rain, ended up outside my friend's apartment window, and called her like a creeper telling her I was outside her window.
(Unfortunately she wasn't there, but it was still fun & then I met her in the library with hot chocolates!)

Don't plan it now! When the time comes, just do it!

Happy October!
